Update on the situation with the Muga Pitch Closure (August.24)

The muga pitch remains closed at this time due to it been dangerously slippery and unfit for purpose. We are aware youths are climbing over the fence to access the site – if necessary we shall provide CCTV footage of this happening and report to the police. Notices have been posted stating the pitch is locked and access is prohibited – the Parish Council will not be held responsible for any injuries due to persons ignoring the notices and entering the pitch illegally. We would respectfully ask parents to speak to their children about this and discourage them from accessing the site.
WE SIMPLY CANNOT JUST IGNORE THE RECOMMENDATION TO KEEP THE PITCH CLOSED.
We have currently received one quote for replacement of the surface and this is £38,500. We are waiting for other quotes, but assuming these will be in the same region, put quite simply this is beyond the financial means of the Parish Council. Therefore Cllrs will shortly look to engage with residents on the future of the pitch, including options for financing a new surface. Cllrs strongly feel any such decisions need to made with the involvement of residents. Please keep your eyes open for future Parish Council Meeting agendas which will detail any proposed discussions and to which we would invite residents to attend.
