Complaints of Parking on Pavements / Near to Junctions

The Parish Council has received several complaints from residents about cars being parked on pavements, causing problems for the elderly, disabled and people with pushchairs, having to to walk out onto the road.  This is an increasing problem throughout the village but particularly bad at the moment in Millfield Drive, and is especially difficult to understand when people have driveways which they are not using.

It is illegal to cause an obstruction on roads and pavements and near junctions (Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986) and residents parking on pavements and junctions can be reported to the police who can impose on the spot fines.

The Parish Council hopes this can be avoided and encourages all drivers to be considerate of others and not park on pavements or on the edge of junctions.

Thank you
